Our internship program provides hands-on learning, meaningful mentorship, and professional development experiences that empower students to apply their education in real-world settings while making a tangible impact.
For more than 20 years, CHFA has also proudly partnered with the Arrupe Jesuit Corporate Work Study Program, investing in talented young people and helping create pathways to higher education and career success. What It’s Like to Intern at CHFA
CHFA is committed to providing a work environment where employees feel valued, supported, and respected. CHFA staff have fun, and at the same time, are serious about the manner in which they conduct business and how they treat each other.
Overall, it's been a great experience, and I continue to learn something new each week. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a knowledgeable team and gain exposure to affordable housing finance and community development.
It's been invaluable getting first-hand experience with processing AP invoices, generating reports, and making ACH/check payments. My overall understanding of how accounting is actually applied within a company and the AP process has significantly increased.
CHFA has been the perfect workplace for me to develop the skills necessary to excel in any workplace. On top of that, everybody is welcoming and willing to answer any questions, no matter how dumb I think it is.
I received extensive hands-on mentorship in the legal department and gained exposure to a variety of transactional work, including real estate, property, and finance. They also held sessions throughout the summer on affordable housing finance structures, interviewing skills, and career advice. One of my favorite parts was being invited to participate in all the larger CHFA events, including baseball games and summer picnics! CHFA is very community based, and I always felt very welcome and included. The experience I gained there was instrumental in my legal journey and helped to kickstart me down a path in public finance law.
